BMW has unveiled two new 5 Series plug-in hybrid models, the 530e and 550e xDrive, featuring 'eDrive' 48-volt mild hybrid technology.

Design
It features a long and sculpted hood, swept-back Matrix LED headlights with integrated DRLs, a new-age kidney grille, flared wheel arches, chromed window lining, and designer alloy wheels.

Performance
The 530e boasts a 299hp four-cylinder petrol engine with up to 100km of electric range, while the 550e xDrive has a 489hp inline-six-cylinder engine and a 90km electric range.

Interiors
Its cabin gets a minimalist dashboard design with brushed metal elements, premium upholstery, automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, multi-color ambient lighting, and ventilated front seats.

Expectation
Set to launch in November, both the 530e and 550e xDrive PHEV models of the BMW 5 Series are expected to carry a premium over their petrol-only siblings. Pre-orders are now open in Germany.
