A 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO by Scaglietti set a new record as the priciest Ferrari ever auctioned, selling for $51.7 million at RM Sotheby's auction in New York City.

Collector's 40-year treasure

The car belonged to Ohio-based collector Jim Jaeger for almost 40 years and features a No. 7 racing livery and a 4-liter engine.

Nurburgring victory

In 1962, it secured a class victory and second place overall at the Nurburgring 1,000km race. Additionally, it won the Best in Show award at the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance in Florida in 2012.

Ferrari auction dominance

Ferraris have dominated auction sales this year, with 12 of the top 15 cars sold at auction sporting the iconic emblem.

Top-selling Ferraris

Other high-selling Ferraris in 2023 include a 1962 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider, which went for approximately $18 million, and a 1964 Ferrari 250 LM that garnered €15.7 million.
