What MEA said on PM Modi's potential meeting with Trump
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has not confirmed a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former United States President Donald Trump during the former's upcoming visit to the United States. The clarification from the MEA came after Trump announced that he would be meeting with PM Modi next week. "Modi, he's fantastic. I mean, fantastic man," Trump had said during a town hall meeting in Michigan on September 20 (local time).
MEA's response to Trump's announcement
During a press briefing, the MEA stated that PM Modi's meetings in the US are still being scheduled. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said, "There are many meetings with the Prime Minister right now which we are trying to fix." He added that they were considering all aspects, including time constraints and potential meeting partners. However, he did not provide any specific information about a confirmed meeting with Trump.
