'Will be greenest...Olympics': Nita Ambani says India ready to host
What's the story
Nita Ambani, founder and chairperson of Reliance Foundation, has made a strong case for India's bid to host the 2036 Olympics.
In her keynote address at the Harvard India Conference on Indian Business, Policy & Culture, she highlighted that India is set to become the world's third-largest economy.
"Among the 10 largest economies globally...only India has not hosted the Olympics," she said.

Further, Ambani assured that if India wins the bid, it will host "the greenest Olympics ever."
This will be done by refurbishing and reusing existing stadiums and campuses, she explained.
"If we bid for it and get it, I assure you that we'll be the greenest Olympics ever... I think India is at the right time now to host the Olympics," she added.
Artisan empowerment

In her address, Ambani also launched "Swadesh," an initiative to empower over 10 million Indian artisans. She revealed how her conversations with artisans in Nathdwara, Rajasthan, inspired her to start this venture.
"Swadesh is meant to spotlight our arts and artisans...and I think Swadesh is trying to market their products," she said.
The Reliance Foundation chairperson also announced upcoming Swadesh stores in New York and London.

Ambani also spoke about the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC), a platform inspired by global cultural venues. She said she wanted a similar platform in India that would showcase the country's rich culture and heritage.
The NMACC has already attracted two million visitors from around the world within 18 months of its inception.
An NMACC weekend is also planned at Lincoln Center in New York, featuring a Swadesh fashion show.
