Why Trump has vowed to prosecute Google if re-elected president
Donald Trump has fired a shot at Google, threatening to have the Justice Department go after it if he is re-elected president in the November polls. On his platform, Truth Social, he said that Google has illegally used a system of only revealing and displaying bad stories about him while only revealing good stories about comrade Kamala Harris. "This is an ILLEGAL ACTIVITY, and hopefully the Justice Department will criminally prosecute them for this blatant Interference of Elections," he said.
Google denies manipulating search results
Google has firmly stated that it does not manipulate search results to favor any political party. "Both campaign websites consistently appear at the top of Search for relevant and common search queries," tech giant explained. Contrary to Trump's claims, a poll by Gallup—a multinational analytics and advisory company—found that the Republicans appears to have an edge over the Democrats. The poll revealed that 48% of US adults identify or lean toward the GOP, compared to 45% for the Democrat Party.
Trump's previous threats of prosecution
In a similar attack earlier this month, Trump announced that he would seek criminal charges against anyone he thinks was involved in the alleged election fraud if he wins the presidential election in November. He even suggested that former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi should be criminally prosecuted for not stopping the January 6 Capitol attack, which was caused by his supporters rioting to stop the transfer of power after the 2020 election.
