When asked about 58 countries 'supporting' Pakistan, minister gets angry

    What's the story

Thumping his chest, Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan said Islamabad has the support of 58 countries on the Kashmir issue.

But when the country's Foreign Minister was asked to name all the countries, he lost his cool.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi revealed his irritated side when journalist Javed Chaudhry of TV channel Express News asked him tough questions.

    Here's what went down.

    What happened

After journalist asked him pointed questions, Qureshi got agitated

Now, Qureshi has repeatedly endorsed Khan's statement that 58 countries are with Islamabad. When Chaudhry asked him to name them, he didn't have an answer.

"On whose agenda are you working?" the Foreign Minister asked.

"Are you going to tell me or decide which countries have or have not supported Pakistan at the UN?... You may write whatever you want!" he added.

The journalist showed Qureshi his tweet to corner him

The journalist didn't let Qureshi go easily. He then asked the Foreign Minister about his tweet in which he seconded Khan.

"No! No! Show me tweet I have written, not what Prime Minister Khan has written. You have said my tweet... show that to me. I want my tweet," Qureshi said.

After he was shown the tweet, he said there's nothing wrong with it.

    Looking back

Khan said 58 countries supported him. UNHRC has 47 countries

Pertinently, Khan has been trying hard to internationalize the Kashmir issue ever since New Delhi revoked Article 370 in August.

After he thanked 58 countries last month for lending support, he was heavily trolled as it was learned that the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) has only 47 members.

While Pakistan lacked support, several countries, including the US and Russia, supported India.

    Statement

Earlier, Khan slammed world leaders for "ignoring" Kashmir

Khan's frustration at failing to get support came out in the open a few days ago when he slammed the international community.

"I am disappointed by the international community. If 8 million Europeans, or Christians or Jews or Americans were put under siege well, even if 8 Americans had been put under siege you can imagine the reaction," Khan said.
