Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani in Israel on six-day visit
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has arrived in Jerusalem on a six-day visit to Israel to strengthen cooperation in the fields of internal security, water management, and agriculture. Rupani's first trip abroad as the CM comes months after he hosted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in January. Rupani will meet members of Gujarati business community who have been living in Israel since the 1980s.
Gujarat's businessmen living in Israel are active in diamond trade
Most of Gujarati businessmen, who are living in Israel, are active in diamond trade which constitutes over 50% of total bilateral trade between India and Israel. Rupani will also visit diamond bourse. Several MoUs are likely to be signed in water management field and Agriculture. Israel has already assisted Gujarat government in developing two centers of excellence for agriculture in Banaskantha and Kutch districts.
Places Rupani would visit during his six-day stay in Israel
Rupani will be visiting Shafdan waste water treatment plant, attend a presentation by Israel's national water company Mekorot, and see facilities of Sorek desalination plant, NaanDan Jain Irrigation, and Suplant, which has developed an algorithm to analyze data collected from soil, climate and plant-based sensors.
Rupani will study Israel's solution on internal security management
On the side of possible security cooperation, Rupani will meet senior executives from leading companies like mPrest (monitoring and control solutions for security), Magal security systems, Mer Group, Israel Aerospace Industries, Tahal, Elbit systems to study their solutions on internal security management. He will visit Tel Aviv Municipality Command and Control Center and Cemetery of fallen Indian soldiers during World War I in Haifa.
iCreate to sign MoUs on entrepreneurship and innovative technology
Representatives of iCreate, which promotes entrepreneurship and innovative technology, are likely to sign two MoUs with Israel's Pearl Foundation and Start Up Nation. The Israeli Prime Minister, accompanied by his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi, inaugurated an iCreate campus in Gujarat. Called the International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Technology (iCreate), the body provides funds, space, mentors and other facilities to entrepreneurs.
Rupani to meet winners of Innovation Bridge
Israel Innovation Authority is said to be closely working with Gujarat to promote joint projects. Rupani is likely to meet with winners of the Innovation Bridge and also look at the solution of Mobileye (Advanced driving assistance systems) which has attracted global attention. The Gujarat Chief Minister is likely to call upon Netanyahu and Agriculture Minister Uri Ariel during his visit.
