#Smokin'Italian: US thieves break into marijuana dispensary, steal oregano instead
What happens when crimes go embarrassingly wrong? Thieves lose money? Somebody gets hurt? Embarrassment turns into entertainment for public? Well in America, some criminals stole the wrong product. A team of burglars broke into a pot dispensary and stole some marijuana containers, except that it didn't contain marijuana but oregano, the item whose absence makes pizzas boring. Looks like the thieves were already high!
Dispensary owner didn't keep any marijuana on display
The burglars, aboard a stolen minivan, crashed the glass front entrance of Native Roots dispensary in Colorado Springs at around 1 AM. They quickly grabbed the marijuana-disguised-oregano containers and some t-shirts, loaded the loot into the gateway car and escaped, leaving without a single 'marijuana' leaf. Little did they know that the dispensary's owner didn't keep any marijuana on display. Oops!
Similar loot incidents occurring in Colorado Springs, police alert
On a serious note, similar smash-and-grab incidents were reported at another medical center at Colorado Springs in late August. According to the police, it appears to be a pattern with regard to similar crimes, not only with dispensaries but with other businesses as well.
Burglars escaped but laughter continued among netizens
Social media was rolling on the floor over the burglars' gaffe. An amused netizen wrote, "Pretty sure their conversation this afternoon will go something like this: THIEF #1: Do you have the munchies yet? THIEF #2: Not so much, but I am sort of feeling like Italian for dinner." While the burglars might be smoking oregano right now, let's hope the placebo effect works.
