G20 Summit: When Trump forgot to book a hotel room!
US President Donald Trump loves to live life king-size, but the upcoming G20 summit in Germany's Hamburg is likely be a time of discomfort. Local media reported that unlike other world leaders who will be staying in the city's most luxurious hotels, Trump, hotelier, will stay at the Senate guesthouse. Apparently, White House officials forgot to book accommodation for him in time!
Will he have to stay at Berlin for Hamburg Summit?!
The summit was announced last February. Since then, about 9,000 rooms in the top-end hotels of the city have been busy preparing to host global leaders, their staff and security. By the time American officials called, every single one had been booked. Earlier, there were also rumors that Trump would have to stay in Berlin and fly to Hamburg on helicopter.
So whose fault is it? White House officials blame Obama
Former president Barack Obama hasn't been spared by White House officials over the blunder, which they say is his fault. "Obama's people left everyone high and dry," Daily Mail quoted an official. "They didn't care enough to make sure whoever was president would have a place to stay." Interestingly, the Senate guesthouse is located near the Russian general consulate and the Hamburg Islamic centre.
Meanwhile, the best of hotels for other world leaders
Le Meridien and Park Hyatt will host more than one leaders: British PM Theresa May and others at the former, and Russian President Vladimir Putin and others at the latter. China's Xi Jinping has booked the Grand Elysée. France's Emmanuel Macron will stay at Mövenpick. India's Narendra Modi will halt at the Atlantic Kempinski along with Germany's Angela Merkel and Canada's Justin Trudeau.
