US teen wins right to wear Hijab and box
A 16 year old US girl, Amaiya Zafar has won the right to wear her hijab while boxing inside the US. Zafar seeks to compete in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. However, for that she will have to convince, the International Boxing Association to modify their rules. Her coach Nathaniel Haile said "She earned the right to showcase her skills, and I'm happy for her."
First match after court victory
Zafar's first bout after winning her court case is scheduled for 29 April. She is set to face a girl from Iowa at an amateur boxing match at the Richard R Green Central Park School in Minneapolis.
Sent back for not having right attire
Zafar said, last year she flew to Florida for a fight and even weighed in. However the organizers insisted that she adhere to the dress code and that her Hijab would not be permitted. She had to come back home.
