Ohio man stabs parents over dispute; mother dies, father critical
A 40-year-old man from Ohio, United States, has been arrested for stabbing his parents over a dispute. The accused, identified as Kenneth Mortimer, allegedly stabbed his parents after they refused to let him stay overnight at their home. While the mother succumbed to her injuries, the father is reportedly in a critical condition. Mortimer has been charged with murder and attempted murder.
Mortimer attacked parents after they refused to let him stay
The incident took place around 4:00pm on Friday at the Mortimer residence in Green Township, Ohio. Reportedly, Mortimer's 74-year-old mother, Barbara, told him he couldn't stay overnight. The argument escalated when Barbara asked her husband, Thomas Mortimer, to call 911. Kenneth then grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed his parents as they sat on the couch.
Mortimer's arrested
Despite being stabbed, Barbara tried escaping, however, Kenneth overpowered her and dragged her back inside. He then fled the scene. He was later arrested by the police. Upon arrest, Kenneth confessed to stabbing his parents. A Hamilton County judge set his bail at $2 million. Barbara succumbed to her injuries while Thomas remains in serious condition at a local hospital.
Last month, Indiana man strangled mother over cleaning room
Last month, a 20-year-old Indiana man was charged with strangling his mother after she asked him to clean his room and find a full-time job. Connor Kobold, a student at the United States Merchant Marine Academy, called 911 five times reporting a dead person in his home in Valparaiso. Upon arrival of the police, Kobold surrendered himself and confessed to the crime.
