Man proposes to girlfriend underwater; dies before hearing 'Yes'
In a tragic piece of news, a United States man died while proposing to his girlfriend underwater in Tanzania, East Africa. The man, Steven Weber, was staying in a submerged cabin at the Manta Resort on Pemba Island, with his girlfriend, Kenesha Antoine. Weber's last moments were captured on tape as Antoine recorded the proposal. The video has gone viral. Here's what happened.
'Can't hold my breath long enough... but I love you'
According to The Washington Post, on their third day at the resort, Weber went into the sea and proposed to Antoine from outside the cabin's glass. He showed her a handwritten note, wrapped inside a ziplock bag, "I can't hold my breath long enough to tell you everything I love about you. But ... everything I love about you, I love more every day!"
Weber is last seen swimming away from cabin window
As Antoine films the romantic gesture excitedly, Weber flips the paper which read on the backside: "Will you marry me?" Weber then removes an engagement ring from his bathing-suit pocket before swimming away, without hearing his girlfriend's response.

Resort CEO Matthew Saus told BBC that "everyone is shaken to the core." Saus added that the hotel was notified of a "problem in the water," however, "absolutely nothing could be done" by the time the staff responded.
'You never got to hear my answer, 'Yes!''
In a heartbreaking Facebook post, Antoine said, "You never emerged from those depths, so you never got to hear my answer, 'Yes! Yes! A million times, yes, I will marry you!!'" Antoine remembered the "most amazing bucket list experiences these past few days," adding, "He's probably entertaining someone with a story about how he royally screwed up that proposal and died while being extra."
