US laptop ban on Kuwait Airways, Royal Jordanian lifted

Restrictions on passengers on US-bound flights carrying laptops in the cabin have been lifted for Kuwait Airways and Royal Jordanian. This comes after Etihad, Emirates, Qatar Airways and Turkish Airlines were exempted from the prohibition last week. Both carriers said they had tightened security on flights from Jordan and Kuwait. Kuwait Airways said US officials had reviewed the security measures.

Earlier, certain electronic devices were banned on specific US-bound flights
In March, the US banned electronic devices larger than a cellphone on incoming flights from certain countries due to security threats. Larger devices like tablets, DVD players, laptops and cameras were allowed to be carried in checked-in luggage. It impacted 8-10 foreign airlines and 10 international airports in the Middle East and North Africa, including some in Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and other unnamed countries.

Saudia, Royal Air Maroc expecting to lift the ban too
The ban is still in force for airlines in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Morocco. However, Saudia has announced the restriction will be lifted on July 19. Royal Air Maroc is also expecting the ban to be lifted from flights out of Casablanca by around the same time. The developments follow stricter measures announced by US to screen passengers and devices.
