Fitness influencer, who lost 141 kilograms, now on dialysis
A US fitness influencer, Lexi Reed, who lost 141 kilograms in two years, has now been hospitalized due to organ failure. Currently, she is undergoing dialysis and is unable to walk. Her husband Danny broke the tragic news on Instagram, where he informed about Lexi's condition in a small post. He shared a photo of Lexi, who was lying unconscious on a hospital bed.
'She's in a medically induced coma'
"She started acting differently so I took her to the hospital where they admitted her into ICU, placed [her in] a medically induced [coma], [put her] on a ventilator, and [told] me that her organs started failing," Danny wrote. He didn't tell what caused Lexi's organ failure but informed if he hadn't taken her to the hospital, she might have died.
Danny intends to raise funds through crowdfunding for the treatment
Danny also revealed that he does not have medical insurance and according to a report by the Daily Mail, he intends to raise funds for her wife's treatment through crowdfunding by setting up a GoFundMe page.
Lexi and Danny adopted a resolution to lose weight
Lexi and Danny became famous after their weight loss journey went viral in 2016. Before adopting a New Year's resolution to lose weight, the couple weighed a combined 347 kilograms and consumed an average of 8,000 calories per day, the Daily Mail reported. Within two years, Lexi dropped to 78 kilograms from 220 kilograms, while Danny reduced from 94 kilograms to 43 kilograms.
'We had the motivation to work hard every single day'
"We didn't have a meal plan, surgery, personal trainer, but what we did have was each other and the motivation within to work hard every single day," Lexi wrote in an Instagram post in 2017. Lexi claimed after six months of the resolution they were a "completely different couple." "We may have lost the weight but we have grown closer together," she had said.
