Union minister Nitin Gadkari has revealed the much-awaited India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway is almost ready.
Project progress
'Project is about 70% finished': Gadkari
Gadkari told news agency PTI, "Around 70% work of the project is completed."
The entire highway, spanning the three incredible countries, is expected to be fully completed within the next three to four years.
Once completed, you will be able to take a road trip from Kolkata to Bangkok.
India has further plans to expand the trilateral highway to Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and more.

PM Vajpayee initially proposed project
The 1400km-long trans-nation highway was first proposed by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
This ambitious project gained approval during a ministerial-level meeting in April 2002.
However, it has faced delays along the way. Initially, the government aimed to make the highway operational by December 2019.
Despite the setbacks, dedicated efforts are being made to overcome challenges and accomplish this project.
Route
Road route and what it's like
The India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway will start from Moreh, near the India-Myanmar border in Manipur.
This thrilling journey will take you to Mae Sot, a vibrant city situated on the Myanmar-Thailand border.
The section from Imphal to Moreh is expected to be completed by the end of this year, offering incredible travel opportunities in the region.

'99% complete from Thailand's side': Thailand foreign affairs vice minister
Thailand's Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vijavat Isarabhakdi, recently said, "99% of the four-lane expressway which will be based in Thailand is already complete. Now, a lot depends on the Indian and the Myanmar governments on how fast the project can be completed."
This highway will not only make travel easier but also promote economic growth by facilitating the smooth movement of goods and services.
