Hafiz Saeed, Dawood Ibrahim feature in UNSC's terrorist list
A total of 139 entities from Pakistan have been named in The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) consolidated list of terrorists- individuals and organizations. Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Saeed and Indian fugitive Dawood Ibrahim also feature in the list. The list names 257 terrorists, and 82 terror groups and Pakistan accounted for 40% entries in it.
Dawood Ibrahim owns bungalow in Karachi, reveals UNSC list
The UN said Dawood has several Pakistani passports in Rawalpindi and Karachi. It also revealed about a 'palatial bungalow' that the Indian national, and now fugitive, owns in Karachi. Further, 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed, who is wanted by the Interpol for his involvement in terror activists, was named. Saeed's deputies, Abdul Salaam and Zafar Iqbal also featured in the list, and are wanted by Interpol.
Laden's heir, many LeT aliases find spot on terror list
Osama Bin Laden's heir Ayman al-Zawahiri, who is said to be the mastermind of 9/11 attacks was named. According to UN, he is "hiding somewhere in Afghanistan-Pakistan border area." LeT aliases like al-Mansoorian, Paasban-i-Kashmir, Paasban-i-Ahle Hadith, Jamaatud Dawa and Falah-i-Insaniat Foundation were listed. Ramzi Mohammad bin al-Sheibah, a Yemeni national handed to the US after being arrested in Karachi, was second on the list.
Why are there so many Pakistanis on the list?
Terrorists, groups or individuals, who have lived in Pakistan, operated from there, or have been involved in any kind of activity in the country were included in the list. Some of the listed terrorist organizations operate from the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.
