Ukraine introduces AI-generated spokesperson for foreign ministry
Ukraine's foreign ministry has launched an artificial intelligence (AI) spokesperson, Victoria Shi. The digital representative will provide updates on various subjects, including the ongoing conflict with Russia. Victoria Shi is modeled after Ukrainian singer and influencer Rosalie Nombre, who actively participated in this innovative project. The ministry released a video of Victoria Shi on X (formerly Twitter), indicating that her statements will be available on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs's official website and social media platforms.

The ministry introduced Victoria Shi as the "digital delegate" of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Ukraine. Designed with AI, she will offer "timely insights on consular matters," marking a historic moment for the MFA. Nombre generously donated her voice and image to this pioneering project. In an introductory video, Shi explained her role and responsibilities, which include delivering accurate information from the consular department to the public and keeping journalists informed about news concerning Ukrainian citizens' rights overseas.
AI spokesperson to enhance efficiency amid conflict
The deployment of an AI spokesperson is part of the ministry's efforts to combat digital forgery and conserve resources during times of conflict. Measures such as QR codes have been implemented for this purpose. According to Dmytro Kuleba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the introduction of Victoria Shi allows real diplomats to be more efficient and concentrate on other tasks related to assisting citizens.
