2 Indian students drown in tragic hiking incident in Scotland
Two Indian students lost their lives while hiking with friends at the Linn of Tummel, a popular scenic spot in Scotland. The victims, identified as 26-year-old Jitendranath Karuturi and 22-year-old Chanhakya Bolisetti, were both pursuing their Master's degrees at Dundee University. While an investigation into the deaths is currently underway, police has said that initial information revealed that both were swept away at Linn of Tummel.
Rescue teams recover bodies from Linn of Tummel
The corpses of Karuturi and Bolisetti were discovered by rescue teams in the water near the Linn of Tummel. A representative from the Indian High Commission in London confirmed that both students were found downstream. The families of both students have been informed by the Indian Consulate General, said the official, adding that a consular representative has met with a student who resides in the UK.
Dundee University and Police Scotland respond to tragedy
Dundee University has pledged full support following the tragic incident. Scotland Police in a statement, said, "around 7:00 pm on Wednesday, we received a report of two men in the water at the Linn of Tummel waterfall near Blair Atholl." They further confirmed that there appear to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding these deaths. Investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this unfortunate event.
