Trump vows to 'expose' enemies in rare Justice Department speech
What's the story
For the first time in a decade, a sitting President has visited the Justice Department.
In the rare speech, US President Donald Trump vowed to "expose" those behind his criminal prosecution, reported AP.
Trump's comments were directed at an agency that had earlier prosecuted him.
He also urged the imprisonment of his political rivals during the address.
Trump's vow
Trump vows to expose 'egregious crimes and severe misconduct'
"We will expel the rogue actors and corrupt forces from our government. We will expose, very much expose their egregious crimes and severe misconduct," said Trump in the speech.
He also slammed the Biden administration for the US withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021, calling it "the most humiliating time in this history of our country."
"The people who did this to us should go to jail. They should go to jail," he declared.
Accusations
Trump accuses Biden administration of weaponizing Justice Department
In his speech, Trump also accused the Biden administration of weaponizing the Justice Department against him.
"Our predecessors turned this Department of Justice into the Department of Injustice. But I stand before you today to declare that those days are over, and they are never going to come back and never coming back," he asserted.
He added that as America's "chief law enforcement officer," there would be "full accountability" for wrongs and abuses within the department.
Revamp efforts
Trump labels prosecutors as 'scum' in Justice Department revamp
Trump called out a number of prosecutors and officials who are involved in legal cases against him, calling them "scum."
He reiterated that the abuse in the Justice Department had to be addressed before it could turn over a new leaf.
His administration has already fired prosecutors who attempted to prosecute him.
The Justice Department also fired employees who were part of special counsel Jack Smith's team, who were involved in election interference and classified document hoarding cases against Trump.
Commitment
Trump vows to restore justice in America
In his speech, Trump said he was confident the upcoming changes would be "legendary for the people that are able to seek it out and bring justice."
"We will restore the scales of justice in America, and we will ensure that such abuses never happen again in our country," the US president said.
