President Trump nominates Kenneth Juster as US ambassador to India
The Trump administration announced Kenneth Juster as the US ambassador to India. Juster, who's a top economic aide and an expert on India, is currently serving as the Deputy Assistant to the POTUS for International Economic Affairs and Deputy Director of National Economic Council. If confirmed by the Senate, he'll succeed Richard Verma, the first Indian American to serve in this role. Here's more.
Who's Kenneth Juster?
In June, White House had expressed its interest in making Juster America's new ambassador to India, a position that's been vacant since Trump's tenure began. Earlier, Juster has served as Under Secretary of Commerce from 2001-2005, Counselor (acting) of the State Department (1992-1993), and deputy and senior adviser to the Deputy Secretary of State from 1989-1992. He hold a law degree from the Harvard Law School.
