3 Indian women killed in car crash in South Carolina
Three women from Gujarat were killed after their SUV veered off the road and catapulted over a bridge before crashing into trees on the other side of the bridge in Greenville County, South Carolina. The car was discovered stuck in trees, smashed into several pieces. The victims have been identified as Rekhaben Patel, Sangitaben Patel, and Manishaben Patel.
SUV crossed all lanes, ascended embankment
The SUV was heading north on I-85 when it crossed all lanes, ascended an embankment, and launched at least 20 feet into the air before crashing into the trees. "It is obvious they were traveling above the posted speed limit," Chief Deputy Coroner Ellis stated. He further highlighted that it's rare to see a vehicle leave the roadway at such a high speed that it jumps 4-6 lanes of traffic and lands in trees approximately 20 feet away.
Detection system of the vehicle alerted family members
Following the crash, local highway patrol units, fire and rescue teams, and several EMS units from Greenville County were immediately dispatched to the scene. The sole survivor also reportedly sustained injuries and was rushed to a hospital; their condition remains uncertain. According to reports, the vehicle's detection system alerted family members about the crash, who then informed local authorities in South Carolina.
