Modi sends condolences to Dubai's ruler
Prime Minister, Narendra Modi sent his condolence message to Dubai's ruler and Prime-Minister over the "untimely" and saddening death of his son, Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum. He was also the elder brother of the Emirates heir apparent, Sheikh Hamdan. In his messsage, Modi expressed that a "promising public career has been tragically cut short" with the passing away of Sheikh Rashid.

Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum was born on 12 November 1981. He is the eldest son of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Sheikha Juma Al Maktoum. His father is the Vice-President of United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Prime-Minister and ruler of Dubai. He received school-education in Dubai and later graduated from Sandhurst Military Academy in the United Kingdom in 2002.

Sheikh Rashid's personal net worth, as calculated in 2010 by Forbes Magazine was around US $1.9 billion.
His sports enthusiasm
Sheikh Rashid was a renowned sportsperson in the UAE. He was a horse-riding enthusiast and participated in various equestrian-endurance competitions, winning a number of laurels for the country. His greatest achievement was winning two gold-medals for endurance-individual and endurance-team events in the 2006 Asian-Games. He was appointed the President of the UAE Olympic Committee in 2008 but he resigned from the position in 2010.

Sheikh-Rashid's was interested in football and was a huge fan of Manchester City Football Club which is owned by his brother-in-law, Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
His unprecedented death
Sheikh Rashid, the oldest son of Dubai's ruler aged 33 died due to a heart-attack in the morning of 19 September 2015. His death was unanticipated and regretted deeply; a three-day period of mourning was declared and and Emirates flags were flown at half-mast. His burial took place late on Saturday. Dubai's ruler, the rueful father prayed over his son's dead-body at the burial.
