6, including 4 soldiers killed in mysterious Lahore blast
Six people including four soldiers were killed in an apparent suicide blast in Lahore that was targeting a census group. The explosion took place at Manawala chowk and 15 others were injured as well. While some reports said it was a cylinder blast, others said it was a suicide bombing. Police in the area said the cause is yet to be ascertained.
What happened?
According to reports, which quoted Lahore police officials, the blast had targeted an army vehicle which was participating in the census. While the police officers were quoted as saying it was a suicide bomber, the government has said that the cause was yet to be ascertained. 4 soldiers and 2 civilians died, and the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals.
Government makes statement
Taking to Twitter, the Government of Punjab said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif "has strongly condemned the blast at Bedian Road. The exact nature of blast is being ascertained. @CMShehbaz has directed the authorities to provide best medical facilities to the injured."
