North Korea's Kim Jong-un can 'control weather'?
Media in all countries have a tendency to project their leaders in a good light, but when it comes to North Korea, sometimes, the results are bizarre. The latest claim of NKorea's state-run media is that their Dear Respected Comrade, Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army, Kim Jong-un, can control the weather. While climbing the country's highest peak in shiny leather shoes!
Here's what, KCNA says, happened
The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reports a week ago, Kim climbed the 9,000-feet Mount Paektu. But lo and behold. The mountain, which generally remains a wintry mess during this time, was instead a "marvelous scene with glee at the reappearance of its great master". There was "fine weather unprecedented" as Kim reached the top, proof that it was a man "who controls the nature".
Considering his ancestry, it shouldn't be very surprising
NKorean state-sponsored media has a history of deifying their leaders. Like when Kim's father Kim Jong Il (he could also control the weather) started walking when he was three-weeks-old. The only time he picked up a golf club, he shot a round including 11 holes-in-one. He was a multi-talented expert, writing six full operas in two years and 1,500 books during his university years.
Like father, like son
Kim seems to have inherited his father's genius. Kim Jong-un started driving when he was three-years-old. At nine, he defeated the chief executive of a yacht company in a race. He (along with scientists) has formulated a drug that can cure multiple disorders including AIDS, cancers, and "harm from use of computers". He and some archaeologists have even discovered a unicorn lair!
So did he actually climb that 9,000-foot peak?
We can only guess. But the pictures do reveal some strange things: Kim was unusually non-sweaty despite having made such an arduous climb. His shiny leather shoes seemed devoid of any dirt, keeping noticeably clean despite him having supposedly crossed rugged terrains. But KCNA reports he made some declarations at the top, one of them being redoing the visitors' center. Is somebody listening?
