Despite invitation, Thai cave-boys can't watch FIFA World Cup final
An official of Chiang Rai Prachanukroh Hospital, where the twelve Thailand boys and their soccer coach are recuperating, said the team won't be able to watch the World Cup Final today. The team was rescued from a cave after rains trapped them there for 17 days, with the entire world following the operation nervously. But a dedicated team ensured the boys cheated death.
'We want boys to rest,' medical official from hospital says
The official revealed the final might be recorded and shown to the boys later. "We want the boys to rest and not to be looking at screens too much," he added. The boys are likely to be discharged Thursday. Notably, the FIFA governing body had invited the team to watch the final between France and Croatia in Moscow.
A trip to cave took an unexpected turn, trapping team
On June 23, the 25-year-old coach took the 12 boys, aged 11-16, to the Tham Luang cave, but got trapped by rising floodwaters. Rescue operations started the next day. However, amid heavy rains, water rose fast, hindering the personnel. Rescuers found the boys only after rains subsided on July 1. All of them were safely evacuated eight days later.
