A 26-year-old Indian student from Telangana was found dead in the United States. G Praveen's body was found with bullet wounds, PTI reported.
Praveen was pursuing Master of Science in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, when he died.
His family in Ranga Reddy district near Hyderabad was informed about the news on Wednesday morning by US authorities.

Family seeks answers and assistance
Praveen's cousin, Arun, said some friends said that Praveen was shot dead by unknown assailants at a store in a suspected robbery attempt. However, this information hasn't been confirmed by authorities.
The family is now waiting for an autopsy report to ascertain the cause of death.
Notably, Praveen had tried calling his father early on Wednesday morning but got no answer as his father was asleep at the time.

Praveen's academic journey and family's plea for help
Praveen had completed his Bachelor of Technology in Hyderabad before moving to the US in 2023 for further studies.
He had last visited India in December 2024 and returned to the US in January 2025.
The Consulate General of India in Chicago expressed condolences, writing on X, "The Consulate is in contact with Praveen's family and the University, helping them with all possible support. Our heartfelt condolences and prayers are with his family and friends of the departed."

Praveen's death comes close on the heels of two similar cases of Telangana students allegedly being shot dead in the US.
One student from Khammam city was killed in November 2024, while another from Hyderabad met a similar fate in January 2025.
