Sao Paulo: Teen kills entire family after phone confiscated
A 16-year-old boy in Sao Paulo, Brazil, reportedly shot his parents and sister dead following a disagreement over his cell phone. The local police confirmed the incident occurred on Friday but was only reported on Monday when the teenager confessed. Investigation Chief Roberto Afonso stated that the boy, who is adopted, was "very frustrated" when his parents confiscated his phone after an argument.
Teenager uses father's service gun in triple homicide
During questioning, the teenager told investigators that he managed to get hold of his father's service gun, who was a municipal policeman, and shot him in the back. He then went upstairs and shot his 16-year-old sister in the face. When his mother returned home several hours later, he used the same weapon to kill her. The victims were identified as a 57-year-old father and a 50-year-old mother.
Investigation underway to understand teenager's motive
"We need to understand if this was frustration related to some sort of psychological disturbance," Afonso told Brazilian network TV Record. The police are also investigating whether there was any other involvement, including if the boy had communicated with anyone over the phone prior to the incident. After killing his parents and sister, the teenager stayed in the house with the bodies for three days. During this time, he visited a gym and made a purchase at a bakery.
