Shia mosque in Kabul attacked by bomber, gunmen
Afghan officials said a suicide bomber blew himself up inside the Shiite Imam Zaman mosque in Kabul. Gunmen are also involved in the attack which is still going on. Authorities said there were casualties but provided no further details. No terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack. A police operation to bring the situation under control is ongoing.
Mosque located in busy areas, police trying to evacuate worshippers
"At least three people entered the mosque and started shooting," said Interior ministry spokesman, Najib Danish. "Police have cordoned off the area and are trying to evacuate the worshippers," Al Jazeera's Jennifer Glasse reported. It was a busy time, in the middle of Friday prayer as the attack took place. The mosque is located in a busy residential area.
