South Korea's LG Group chairman Koo Bon-moo dies at 73

South Korean conglomerate LG Group Chairman Koo Bon-moo died today at the age of 73.
Koo was hospitalized last week after earlier undergoing brain surgery but rejected life-prolonging treatments.
The entrepreneur requested his 40-year-old adopted son, Koo Kwang-mo, succeed him to lead the family-controlled conglomerate.
Koo Kwang-mo was adopted by the tycoon in 2004 after he lost his own son in the 1990s.
Career
Sales increased dramatically during Koo's executive career
Koo Bon-moo is credited with expanding the business empire, which was centered around consumer electronics, displays, and chemicals.
The empire was founded by his grandfather in 1947.
Koo served as the top executive for over 20 years. During this period, sales increased dramatically, with LG Group posting 160 trillion Won ($148 billion) in sales last year, up from 30 trillion Won in 1994.
