Shots fired into Kamala Harris's campaign office in Arizona
Shots were fired into the campaign office of Vice President Kamala Harris in Arizona, United States, reports said on Wednesday. The Tempe Police Department confirmed that the bullets were discharged after midnight at the Democratic National Committee campaign office. "No one was inside the office during the overnight hours, but this raises concerns about the safety of those who work in that building, as well as those nearby," Public Information Officer Sergeant Ryan Cook said.
Investigation underway
The incident was discovered when staff workers arrived at the office and noticed what appeared to be gunshot damage to the front windows. This is not the first time such an incident has occurred at this location. On September 16, the front windows were targeted with a BB gun or pellet gun, police said. Detectives are currently analyzing evidence from both incidents and no arrests have been made yet.
Recent assassination attempts on former President Donald Trump
The shooting at Harris's office follows closely on the heels of two assassination attempts on former President Donald Trump. In the most recent incident, 58-year-old Hawaii resident Ryan Routh was arrested at Trump National Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was found hiding with an AK-47, a GoPro camera and other items while Trump was golfing at the venue.
Assassination attempt on Trump in Pennsylvania
Days before Routh's arrest, Trump survived an assassination attempt at his Pennsylvania rally. Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old man, opened fire at the rally, injuring Trump and two others. The attack also resulted in the death of firefighter Corey Comperatore. Crooks was eventually neutralized by snipers on site.
