Trust Serena Williams to break norms and deliver a message at the same time, and she won't disappoint. The latest reason, which she has given, to fall in love with her is a bold video she posted on social media to raise awareness about breast cancer. Serena went topless and sang the cover of The Divinyls' hit 'I Touch Myself', in a now viral video.
Serena stepped out of her comfort-zone to help women across
Sharing the empowering video on Instagram, Serena wrote it was difficult for her, and put her out of her comfort zone. But she chose to do it because breast cancer affected all women across the globe. "Early detection is key - it saves so many lives. I just hope this helps to remind women of that," the ace tennis star wrote.
The music has a story
"The music video is part of the I Touch Myself Project which was created in honor of celebrated diva, Chrissy Amphlett, who passed away from breast cancer, and who gave us her hit song to remind women to put their health first," she wrote.
Dear women, take care of yourselves
Serena, the icon fighting for all women
Serena Williams has spent years giving voices to women, representing them, and calling out sexism whenever she can. Her US Open behavior was termed as 'mother of meltdowns', but Serena stood her ground and pointed out male tennis players are treated way better. Days later, when Australia's Nick Kyrgios got just a warning for calling the umpire delusional, Serena stood corrected. You go, Queen!
