Rome- Intoxicated driver mows down five pedestrians
A driver in Rome knocked down five pedestrians, seriously injuring two. All have been hospitalized. The woman later tested positive for drugs. She was also carrying 6gm of cocaine. Terrorism has been ruled out. She reportedly fell unwell and lost control of the car, then jumped a red light and hit people. She also didn't have a driving license, having lost it in February'16.
One victim was dragged several metres under the car's wheels
One of the victims, a 30-year-old man, was dragged under the car's wheels for many metres. People had to lift the car off the man, who was trapped underneath it. He has been transferred to intensive care at San Camillo Hospital. A local newspaper reported that another victim, a woman, suffered a spinal cord injury.
