President Ram Nath Kovind visits Shri Kali temple in Myanmar
What's the story
President Ram Nath Kovind today visited a temple of goddess Kali in Yangon, Myanmar.
The temple is managed by a trust represented by people who came to Myanmar from different regions of India.
Kovind is in Myanmar to continue India's high-level bilateral engagements under the "Act East" and "Neighbourhood First" policies.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson, Raveesh Kumar, tweeted a picture of Kovind's temple visit.

Information
The temple was built by Tamil immigrants in 1871
First Lady Savita Kovind also visited the temple along with her husband. Popular among Hindu devotees, the Shri Kali Temple was built by Tamil immigrants in 1871. It's famous for its colorful exteriors. It's richly decorated with sculptures and carvings featuring scenes from Hindu mythology.
