Mint Butterfield kidnapping: Valet charged with unlawful intercourse with minor
Christopher "Kio" Dizefalo, a 26-year-old valet worker, is facing charges related to his alleged involvement with Mint Butterfield, the 16-year-old child of Stewart Butterfield, co-founder of Slack. The charges against Dizefalo include unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and child stealing. Marin County records indicate that Dizefalo allegedly enticed and was in an inappropriate relationship with the teenager despite their significant age difference.
Minor child of Slack co-founder reported missing
Mint, who identifies as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, reportedly left their home voluntarily around April 21. The teenager was considered "at risk" due to previous threats of suicide. Mint left a note for their parents indicating an intent to run away and was reported missing by their mother the following morning.
Missing teen found with accused in San Francisco
After missing posters were distributed throughout San Francisco, Mint was found nearly a week later on Saturday night in the city's Tenderloin District. They were discovered in the company of Dizefalo, inside his van. The Marin County Sheriff's Office stated that Dizefalo and the teen allegedly "had some sort of a quasi-dating relationship," but did not provide further details about the relationship. Dizefalo is currently being held on a $50,000 bail and is due for arraignment in court on Tuesday.
