Pakistani singer Rabi Pirzada dons explosive vest; threatens Modi again
Pakistani singer Rabi Pirzada on Tuesday launched another threat against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a social media post where she is seen wearing an explosive vest. Earlier in September, Pirzada made headlines when she threatened to unleash reptiles on Modi in light of his government's move to repeal Jammu and Kashmir's special status, which she has consistently criticized. Here are more details.
#ModiHitler I just wish huh: Pirzada wrote in not-so-veiled threat
On Tuesday, Pirzada shared a picture of herself wearing, what looks like an explosive vest, complete with a timer attached. Along with the picture, Pirzada wrote, "#ModiHitler I just wish huh. #kashmirkibeti." The tweet, which went viral and sparked massive outrage, has since been deleted. Several Twitter users also condemned Pirzada for her recklessness and portraying a poor image of Pakistan.
'Looking awesome in traditional Pakistani dress'
A popular reply to Pirzada's now-deleted tweet reads, "Wow!! You looking awesome in traditional Pakistani dress." One Twitter user wrote, "This isn't very funny. Highly irresponsible," while another asked her for a demonstration of her supposed suicide attack.
Last month, Pirzada threatened Modi with reptiles
Since India revoked J&K's special status by abrogating Article 370 and bifurcating the state into two Union Territories, Pirzada has used her social media channels to mobilize people against the move. In one such attempt, Pirzada appeared in a video with various reptilian creatures last month, which she said would feast on Modi. Addressing the PM, she said, "Get ready to die in hell."
However, Pirzada's video did more than invite mere internet backlash
The Punjab Wildlife Protection and Parks Department filed a complaint against Pirzada for illegal possession of wild animals, including four pythons and an alligator. Thereafter, a Lahore court issued a bailable arrest warrant against Pirzada. The singer, however, said that she has been posting videos with her pets for years, yet no one ever took action until she spoke against Modi.
