The number of people missing in the devastating wildfire that struck northern California jumped to over 1,000 today, as the remains of 8 other victims were found. Butte County Sheriff, Kory Honea, said the number of missing had soared from 631 on Thursday to 1,011 yesterday, as more reports of missing were being sent in and emergency calls made are being reviewed. Number of dead in 'Camp Fire' now stands at 71
The eight additional victims bring the number of people who have died in the so-called "'Camp Fire" to 71. Three other people have died in southern California in another blaze dubbed the "Woolsey Fire". Both the fires erupted on November 8. Honea underlined that the list of missing was constantly fluctuating and it didn't mean that all those on the list were presumed dead.
