Packet clarifies that the cow dung cakes are "not edible"
The bizarre piece of news caught up after a Twitter user, Samar Halarnkar posted an image of the cow dung packet, that he said his cousin sent all the way from Edison, New Jersey. The image shows the packet responsibly clarifying that the 'cakes' are for "religious purpose" only, and are "not edible." The packet also mentions that it is a "Product of India."
"Are these (cow dung cakes) from 'desi' or Yankee cows?"
While sharing the astonishing image on Twitter, Samar wrote, "My cousin sent me this. Available at a grocery store in Edison, New Jersey. $2.99 only. My question: Are these imported from desi cows or are they from Yankee cows?" The post has now gone viral.
