NASA tweets about Guru Purnima!
Guru Purnima, a day dedicated to teachers, is being celebrated on July 9 this year. Indians were already discussing it on social media. But two days earlier, an official NASA Twitter account posted about it! @NASAmoon, the agency's moon account, tweeted: "Full moon this weekend - called Guru Purnima, Hay Moon, Mead Moon, Ripe Corn Moon, Buck Moon, or our favorite, THUNDER MOON (sic)".
Post re-tweeted over 5,000 times, Indians thank NASA
At the time of publication of this report, the post had been 're-tweeted' over 5,000 times, including by the NASA account. Naturally, Indians took notice: "Thankyou for recognising Guru Purnima, or Teacher's Day as per vedic practices. Wish you all a blessed Guru (Teacher) Purnima (Full moon) (sic)," said @the_ajitsingh. Many simply thanked the agency for recognizing the day of significance in Indian tradition.
