#ChallengingNorms: Muslim-woman to wear hijab in Miss England's finale
The upcoming finale of Miss England in Kelham Hall, Nottinghamshire, is going to be one of its kind, all thanks to Sara Iftekhar, who has been shortlisted. The 20-year-old student will grace the ramp wearing a hijab, and her walk is sure to script history. A law student in the University of Huddersfield, Sara hopes to win the crown on Tuesday.
Making it to the finale was amazing for Sara, obviously!
For Sara, making it to the finals has been a dream come true. In July, sharing the trophy on her Instagram she wrote, "Wowwwwwww!!!! I can't even comprehend how amazing it felt for my name to be announced as a finalist in the Miss England Finals 2018! Alhamdullilah." Further, she revealed the doors this competition opened for her were remarkable, and she was grateful.
Will never forget this, Sara wrote on Instagram
"It was an incredible experience and something which I will never be able to forget. The opportunities which I have received with being a finalist in Miss England are opportunities which I would never have thought of and will forever be grateful for," she wrote.
Sara is not only beautiful but philanthropic as well
But Sara seems to believe in returning what she got. She is using her popularity to raise money for 'Beauty with a purpose'. This charity, which has been working for the last 46 years, helps underprivileged children across the globe. They have also worked with Nelson Mandela, and with Jackie Chan in raising money for kids displaced after natural disasters.
Sara is definitely a beauty with purpose
"I participated in Miss 2018 in order to show that beauty doesn't have a definition, everyone is beautiful in their own ways, regardless of their weight, race, colour or shape. Every single penny is appreciated, thank you," Sara's page reads. Definitely beauty with purpose!
