
Mother kills newborn with letter opener seconds after cutting umbilical

In a shocking incident, a South Carolina woman has been accused of murdering her newborn child with a metal letter opener right after giving birth.
The alleged crime happened on March 7 at her apartment complex in Easley, SC.
According to Fox Carolina and the Easley Police Department, An T. Ngo is accused of using the household object to stab her baby multiple times after cutting the umbilical cord.

Police chief expresses disbelief at the crime
Easley Police Chief Brandon Liner said he was shocked by the gruesomeness of the incident, "I've been doing this for over two-and-a-half decades and I have never seen anything this gruesome. I've never seen anything this bad."
He also noted that Ngo allegedly placed the bloodied infant in a trash bag, which was moved outside her room.
The newborn was found with severe injuries by police officers who were called to the scene by Ngo's boyfriend and was declared dead.

Ngo charged with homicide by child abuse
Ngo was first treated at a hospital, but was released and arrested on Tuesday.
She has been charged with homicide by child abuse and denied bail.
"We will speak for this baby... We will make sure that this baby will receive justice. It didn't have a chance at life. Not long," Chief Liner said.
