China says 'atmosphere not right' for Modi-Xi meet at G20

"The atmosphere is not right for a bilateral meeting between President Xi and Prime Minister Modi," a Chinese foreign ministry official said. The statement could be a reference to the Sikkim standoff.
Xi calls for 'peaceful resolution of regional disputes'
Xi reportedly called on "the BRICS countries to push for peaceful settlement of regional conflicts and disputes." His statement comes as China uses its military to assert itself in disputes along the Indian border, in the South China Sea and East China Sea.
Xi praises India's socio-economic development
Xi said he "appreciated India's strong resolve against terrorism" and for introducing the issue in BRICS under its chairmanship. Xi also praised its economic and social development, wishing it greater success. Modi "appreciated momentum in BRICS under the Chairmanship of President Xi" and extended India's full cooperation towards the upcoming BRICS summit in Xiamen, China.
Modi urges BRICS and G20 to fight terrorism
Modi said BRICS nations have been a strong voice and must show leadership on issues such as terrorism and global economy. He said the G20 should work together against terrorism financing, franchises, safe havens, support and sponsors. Modi said BRICS must expedite the establishment of a BRICS ratings agency. He said BRICS must cooperate and make Africa's development a priority.
Modi lays out India's agenda in G20
Modi gave the example of Indian reforms, such as the GST, to stress the need for the G20 to aid the global economic recovery. He also called for a collective voice against economic protectionism and reiterated India's commitment to the Paris climate change agreement.
