Miss Mexico Vanessa Ponce de Leon has been named the winner of the most coveted beauty pageant of the year, Miss World 2018. Miss World 2017, Manushi Chhillar of India, crowned her successor at the grand event held at Sanya City Arena in China. Meanwhile, Miss Thailand, Nicolene Limsnukan, has been named the first runner-up of the beauty pageant.

The "Top 5" contestants of the beauty pageant were: "Miss World Europe" Maria Vasilevich (Belarus), "Miss World Caribbean" Kadijah Robinson (Jamaica), "Miss World Americas" Vanessa Ponce de Leon (Mexico), "Miss World Africa" Quiin Abenakyo (Uganda), and "Miss World Asia and Oceania" Nicolene Pichapa Limsnukan (Thailand).
Miss Mexico's winning answer to an interesting question
It was Miss Mexico's answer during the Q&A round that led judges to declare her the winner. When asked how she would use her influence to help others, she replied: "I would use my position just as I have been doing for the past three years- being an example...We all have to care, we all have to love, we all have to be kind."
First Mexican to be crowned as Miss World
While a total of 118 contestants from across the world took part in the beauty pageant, Mexico's Vanessa Ponce de Leon emerged as the winner among all the other contestants. Interestingly, the 26-year-old Mexican model is the first from her country ever to be crown a Miss World. She was also the winner of Season 5 of Mexico's Next Top Model in 2014.

Vanessa was born on March 7, 1992, in the Mexican city of Guanajuato and grew up in Mexico City. She graduated with an International Business degree from the University of Guanajuato and did a diploma in Human Rights. She's a speaker for the National Youth Institute and is on the board of directors of 'Migrantes en el Camino' rehab center for girls and volunteers.
India's Anukreethy Vas made it the Top 30
Miss India 2018, Anukreethy Vas, represented the country at the 68th edition of Miss World pageant this year. She managed to make it to the "Top 30" in the race to win this year's Miss World crown. But unfortunately, the 20-year-old, a native of Tamil Nadu's Tiruchirapalli, could not make the cut to the "Top 12" list of contestants at the beauty pageant.
