Melania Trump's wedding dress is selling on eBay for $45,000
What's the story
Melania Trump's iconic Christian Dior wedding dress from 2005 has been put up for sale on eBay for $45,000.
The former model turned heads when she rocked this gown to wed US President Donald Trump.
The gown, which was encrusted with Swarovski-diamonds and appeared on the cover of Vogue, was surfaced by writer Liana Satenstein after a friend of hers discovered it while browsing for "80's Dior dress" on the website.
Ownership
Trump sold it for $70,000 in 2010
According to the eBay listing, the dress was bought from Trump in 2010 for $70,000. The seller, who bought it through a mutual friend, has now put it up for resale.
The listing has been live since at least January this year.
The gown is said to be in good condition with minor alterations by the seller and is ready to wear after cleaning and ironing.
Fashion legacy
What made the wedding dress special
Trump's wedding dress was a representation of her and Donald's position in New York's high society at a time when they were fixtures at fashion shows and the Met Gala.
Reportedly, it cost $1,05,000 at the time and weighed over 60 pounds.
The gown made its Vogue cover debut in February 2005, just after their Palm Beach wedding.
It was a "dress fit for a princess," said Dior's head of couture Catherine Riviere, who assisted Trump with her selection.
