On Trump's zero-tolerance immigration policy, Melania has contradictory views
What's the story
Melania Trump, the wife of President of US Donald Trump and First Lady, has spoken on the zero-tolerance immigration policy and said she hated seeing kids separated from their families.
The Trump administration's crackdown on illegal migrants left 2,000 kids away from their parents in the six weeks.
This policy gained widespread criticism but Trump put blame on Democrats.

Melania's spokesperson reveals what the First Lady thinks about policy
"'Mrs Trump hates to see children separated from their families and hopes both sides can finally come together to achieve successful immigration reform. She believes we need to be a country that follows all laws, but also a country that governs with heart," Melania's spokesperson said.
The policy
As Trump tries making borders safer, kids are left stranded
As a part of Trump's administration plan to make borders safer, adults seeking asylum in the United States, illegally, are criminally prosecuted.
This has led to hundreds of kids stranded and being passed to US Department of Health and Human Services.
Reportedly, 1,995 children were separated from their guardians between 19 April and 31 May. They were sent to detention facilities or foster care.

Democrat Merkley reveals condition in which kids are being kept
"We saw this huge warehouse, it's super detention centre holding almost 1,500 kids. There are walls that have been constructed that go up near ceiling, long corridors, because you need a lot of bedrooms, and they have some common space as well," Democrat Merkley said
The reaction
Obviously, the policy was slammed from every corner
Giving his opinion on the policy, Democratic Senator Jeff Merkley of Oregon said, "They call it zero-tolerance, but a better name for it is zero-humanity. And there is zero logic to this."
Former First Lady Laura Bush penned a hard-hitting column in The Washington Post criticizing the policy.
"This zero-tolerance policy is cruel. It is immoral. And it breaks my heart," Bush wrote.

At receiving end of criticism, Trump blames Democrats
In a tweet on Saturday, Donald Trump blamed the Democrats for what's happening at the country's borders.
He said Democrats should work with Republicans for a new legislation.
"Democrats are good at only three things, High Taxes, High Crime and Obstruction. Sad!," tweeted Trump.
It is still unclear if the zero-tolerance policy is working or not.

Democrats are good at high taxes and obstruction, tweets Trump
Democrats can fix their forced family breakup at the Border by working with Republicans on new legislation, for a change! This is why we need more Republicans elected in November. Democrats are good at only three things, High Taxes, High Crime and Obstruction. Sad!
