A two-year-old girl recently discovered a condom and tried putting it in her mouth while she was at a McDonald's restaurant. The toddler found the condom in McDonald's playing area
Annie had reportedly taken her daughter to McDonald's for a treat. Fifteen minutes after she sat down, her daughter returned from the restaurant's playing area with a condom. "She said "Mummy, look!" and started to put it in her mouth. I was like "oh!" and smacked it out of her hand and it went underneath the table," Annie told The Courier Mail.
The girl had mistaken the condom for a balloon
Annie says that when she informed the staff, they told her someone probably left it as a joke. "I said 'joke or not, my kid's just had it in her mouth. I don't know where it's been'," she said. According to Annie, her daughter mistook the condom for a balloon and tried blowing into it. It's unclear whether the condom was used or not.
McDonald's apologizes, says such incidents are 'rare'
McDonald's has since apologized for the incident. According to Daily Mail Australia, a McDonald's spokesperson said, "Incidents such as these are rare and after a thorough investigation, we can find no evidence that this was anything more than some kids playing around." They added, "Regardless, we apologize this customer had this experience and hope to welcome them in our restaurants again soon."
Not even a month ago, similar incident happened in Perth
Annie's incident comes not even a month after another two-year-old in Perth, Australia, had discovered a used condom at a McDonald's and put it in her mouth. The parents fear that their daughter might have contracted an STD. The couple now has to wait three months for their daughter's blood tests as they could not retrieve the condom for testing.
