Have you seen viral pictures of father breastfeeding baby yet?
Women breastfeeding babies is a common sight, but not men stepping up for this job. But a father from Wisconsin has set new standards. Maxamillian Neubauer became Internet's favorite father after he posted pictures of him breastfeeding his newly born daughter, as his wife was suffering from complications. Neubauer used a make-shift supplemental nursing system to feed his baby Rosalia. Here's more about him.
New mother couldn't breastfeed due to multiple seizures
The mother April couldn't breastfeed because she suffered multiple-seizures during childbirth. The nurses then came up with a solution. They used a fake nipple shield, feeding tube, a syringe and some formula to help Neubauer breastfeed. Nurse Martin-Dennehy, who assisted Neubauer, said this make-shift arrangement was used for adoptive mothers, those whose babies need additional supplementation, or women having flat or inverted nipples.
The couple's daughter Rosalia finally had her first meal
Martin-Dennehy said this was the first time a dad volunteered to try the system, though she has approached fathers for the same in the past. The nurse secured the system on Neubauer and the daughter Rosalia had her first meal from his father's nipple. Excited after the process, Neubauer came up with the term 'moob', the perfect combination of man and boob.
He jumped without hesitation, nurse praises Neubauer
"He (Neubauer) jumped in without hesitation. He was so excited to be able to fulfil their birth plan wishes when things weren't going as originally planned," Martin-Dennehy said. She hoped the idea of man breastfeeding became more widely accepted.
This is for all moms: Neubauer details experience on Facebook
On June 27, Neubauer shared the pictures on Facebook and detailed how a nurse helped him as April couldn't breastfeed immediately after C-section delivery. "This super rad nurse made an epically killer offer, and I was fortunate enough to slap on a suction cup fake nipple," he wrote. Further, Neubauer wrote he did this for all the mothers. "Eat your heart out," he wrote.
Neubauer's post goes viral, users can't stop appreciating him
Since the time it was posted, the pictures have been shared 30,000 times and prompted almost 7,000 comments. One user wrote: I believe this is fantastic. The skin to skin contact is so important at birth. The breastfeeding part is also great as it shows the baby how to start sucking a nipple and having skin to skin contact.
