After persistently playing the lottery for nearly a decade, this man from Maryland has won the lottery of $50,000 (approximately Rs 41 lakh). What is interesting is that he has been using the same set of numbers to enter the drawings all this while.
He has been eyeing a lottery win for years
The man bought a $4 ticket at Modern Liquors on Iverson Street in Temple Hills. According to reports, he won the jackpot on May 28 after participating in the Bonus Match 5 game of the Maryland Lottery. "I play the same numbers all the time, I've been doing so for years," the individual told the officials at the Maryland Lottery.
The lucky numbers
The lottery ticket had six lines, one of which had his usual combination of numbers. His lucky numbers are 5, 6, 8, 23, and 30, he said. In the end, those fortunate numbers were picked, landing him a prize of $50,000. He also received an extra $15 off of three numbers he selected from a different line himself.
The winner plans to add the amount to his savings
The winner, a former printing press operator, claims that he personally selected four of the lines and that the machine generated the remaining two lines at random. He shared that he will be keeping aside some of the prize money to pay bills and will put the remainder into his savings. After the announcement, he immediately called his wife to share the news.

"Many lottery players tell us that they have certain combinations of numbers that they use on a regular basis," Seth Elkin, a spokesman for Maryland Lottery and Gaming, told CNN in an email. "Sometimes it's birthdates or house numbers or uniform numbers of their favorite athletes, and sometimes they've just decided certain numbers feel 'lucky' to them," Elkin said.
A 71-year-old handyman won $476 million earlier this month
Earlier this month, a 71-year-old handyman Johnnie Taylor from New York City won the Mega Millions lottery jackpot worth $476 million. It was the largest amount in Mega Millions since the game was launched in New York in 2002. The winning numbers were 23-27-41-48-51.
