Abu Dhabi plays host to two day Start-up India summit
The two-day Start-up India summit, organized by the Indian Embassy in Dubai and the Consul General of India, Abu Dhabi, in partnership with iSPIRIT, a Dubai based nonprofit think tank commenced in Abu Dhabi today. The summit is expected to provide a platform for Indian and UAE start-ups to exchange ideas and collaborate with stakeholders. Let us find out more!
The Start-up India Summit, UAE, 2017
The summit will be held in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, at the Emirates Tower and Abu Dhabi Global Market on 23rd and 24th May respectively. It would focus on four areas including Financial Technology and Artificial Intelligence and would see participation from 18 Indian companies.
Why is the summit being held?
India and the UAE pledged to expand co-operation in multiple areas during the visit of crown prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. India has good software and technology to offer to UAE, to match its demand for Fintech, Artificial Intelligence and Software Services. Modi government has further been promoting the Start-up India mission to provide better opportunities to new entrepreneurs.
What are the objectives of the summit?
The summit is expected to open opportunities for start-ups in India and UAE to exchange ideas and collaborate with academia and industry. Start-ups are further expected to receive a boost by getting an access to funding opportunities. According to Indian Ambassador to UAE, Navdeep Suri, the summit also aims to change India's perception as an outsourcing capital, to the land of innovation and entrepreneurs.
