3 dead, 4 injured in knife attack at German festival
Three people have been killed and four others seriously injured after an unidentified man launched a knife attack at a festival in Solingen, Germany. Police said the attacker was on the run, and they had very little information about him so far. The knife attack took place around 10:00pm local time on Friday during a festival commemorating Solingen's 650th anniversary.

Following the incident, law enforcement authorities have cordoned off the city center to facilitate investigations. Solingen's Mayor, Tim-Oliver Kurzbach, expressed his sorrow over the attack. In a statement, he said, "It tears my heart apart that there was an attack on our city. I have tears in my eyes when I think of those we have lost." He also extended his prayers for those still battling for their lives after this horrific incident.
Festival details
The "Festival of Diversity," commemorating the city's 650th anniversary, began Friday and was scheduled to last until Sunday, with multiple stages in central streets featuring live music, cabaret, and acrobatics. Following the incident, the city canceled the rest of the festival. Solingen has approximately 160,000 citizens and is situated near the larger towns of Cologne and Duesseldorf.
