Karachi: Two terrorists killed in firing near Chinese Consulate
Multiple explosions and heavy firing were reported near the Chinese Consulate in Karachi, Pakistan, on Friday, multiple reports claimed. The Consulate is located in the posh Clifton Block area which also nestles various other offices and high-end restaurants. In the attack, two policemen have been martyred and two terrorists were killed. Reports said the suspects tried entering the Chinese Consulate but were stopped.
Terrorist, wearing suicide jacket, has been killed: Police
The News reported that at least four people tried entering the building but were stopped by the guards. Authorities have confirmed that one terrorist, wearing a suicide jacket, has been eliminated. Deputy Consul General confirmed that everyone was safe inside the building. Law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the area, and reports claimed Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has been notified.
Locals share videos, photos of the attack on social media
Locals took to social media to share images of the attack and reported what they heard. A sports journalist Khalid Hussain said he heard gunshots a short while ago. After the attack, security around the area has been beefed up. A team of police, headed by SSP South Pir Mohammad Shah, is inside the building, local reports claimed.
